The Genius Question

Most successful business leaders have pointed out that that increasing external collaboration has a tremendous business impact.  One survey found that 75% of business executives rank collaboration with vendors and partners as a top priority, and 70% report that this type of collaboration increases profitability.  Would this not be true for non-profit ventures as well?  Of course.

Here's what John Sullivan, at San Francisco State University, had to say on the subject.

Someone recently asked me to name an aspect of talent management that has the potential to largely impact business performance, but that is essentially ignored by most organizations.

It was a genius question … most talent management leaders spend hundreds of hours trying to marginally improve existing practices, but few even attempt to identify and execute on new opportunities. My answer is… A systematic process for improving cross-functional collaboration.  Such a process has the potential to significantly improve organizational performance and innovation and is almost totally absent as a talent management discipline.
